I never liked the show and once took a job replacing a man who had Mr. Rodger’s quotes laminated and posted all over the work area. The quotes were insightful and resonated. I think about that now as I hear or read about trump wanting to put up walls between Canada and Mexico and the U.S. Idiots in Kentucky refusing to give marriage licenses even when ordered to do so by law.
This country was formed by gangs and vigilantes and looks headed back in that direction.
I remember in elementary school I had a teacher who ranted about the Berlin wall and how wrong it was. She screamed at us what if they put a wall up down the middle of your street and you never saw friends or family again! I had nightmares for weeks worried I would wake up the next day and never see my best friend Antony again. I wonder how she feels about the trump proposals?
Presently I live on the boarder of Mexico and see the effects of the fence and how it divides people on both sides. We live in a time where nothing is real. We communicate by text, email or some other virtual reality. What has happened to humanity and human interaction. I know young adults actively working to create emotions in computers and robotics to better control life! Let’s put a wall around that. Call it a think tank or whatever you want but it is all propaganda in it’s worst and most controlling form.
There are artists, visual and otherwise, performers, dance, music, writers who search for ways to touch another soul and leave a footprint on the heart. What happened? Have the hearts of humanity become so hard and numb they no longer feel?
Random memory here: When I was working with gangs and violent offenders one group of teenage boys came in singing Barney’s song, I love you, you love me we’re a happy family. They just kept repeating the line and somehow it solidified the comradery between everyone. They did this for about 2 months. The review came back that there were less fights or arguments from that group than any other on the cell block.
What we believe, what we think is given greater power through our words and words turn into actions. Can we live with these actions?
I do not care about what type of sexuality you choose or if you are pansexual, I do not care what your religious beliefs or even which political party you are a member of. I care about you as a human being and respect that. I ask that you respect me. What I am is interested in learning more about you. If we as countries of the world were more open to learning and respecting rather than fear and propagandizing what an amazing place we would live in. In the meantime I am keeping my passport polished.
