Quote Mr. Rodgers

Okay so since I cleaned up and everything is tidy I can’t find a thing on the other hand I find some pretty interesting and random things.  Things being the most descriptive word today. I once had a job teaching ceramics and the teacher before me had laminated quotes of Mr. Rodgers all around the room.  Somehow this one must have been lost in the clay room and I found it as I worked my way through tons of clay.

The World According to Mr. Rodgers

” The thing I remember best about successful people I’ve met all through the years is their obvious delight in what they’re doing… and it seems to have very little to do with worldly success, They just love what they’re doing, and they love it in front of people.”

and they love it in front of people... how powerful is that?

I will never organize again!

After great struggle and switching back of my decision I finally committed to staying in my apt for a year. So it required I organize, rearrange and basically move everything in my apt to another space to make room for my drawing table and mini art studio.  Part of this organization is to stop putting up with things like a slightly clogged drain. Taking one of my favorite files I slip it down the drain and pull up the hair I knew was hidden and clogging things up.  But the pixies must have been having a boring day and watching me was the mornings activity.

Slip! In a blink of a pixies eye the file was down the drain and out of reach.  No problem I will just get my needle nose pliers and pull it out. Ha ha. I organized. Neatly put things away. And have absolutely no idea where it is.

After checking all the normal locations which are no longer in existence since they have been moved too I have yet to find the pliers. So I wasted an hour hunting and trying alternatives.  Where are those giant magnets when you need them? I broke down and went to the office to ask for maintenance.  Oh, he is out of state on vacation, not sure when he’s coming back. Wonderful my favorite file is sitting in the drain rusting away.  Perhaps the darkness will keep the pixies and light out so the process will slow down. At least until maintenance returns.

So here I am with absolutely no idea where anything is in my neatly organized and put away apt.

Words of Wisdom

“It doesn’t matter how many times you press the on button if the power source is turned off the computer just won’t come on.”

Writers advice

David Farland sends out a newsletter: Kick in the Pants. I copied and pasted this from his newsletter. I find it to be great advice as well as inspiring. “Among the Welsh, a poet was called a Maker. The idea was that with words he could create illusions that were so deep, so profound, that it was as if he were bringing his dreams to life. When a Maker describes a stream, you can hear the babbling of the brook as water goes rolling over stones. You can taste the mist rising from limpid pools on the back of your tongue, along with sunlight and autumn leaves. As you kneel to drink, water striders dart through your imagination.

When a Maker tells a tale, he doesn’t just explain what emotions a character feels. He’s not satisfied with just “showing” the emotion by describing it accurately. His goal is to make you experience the tale. His goal is to bring you into the tale so forcefully, that you live through it.”

Mount charleston is burning. A horrible fire. As the sun iturns blood red. animal blood rises into the skies. The peoples tears weave in the clouds. Here in the city we inhale ash and Memories of the past up in smoke.

Smoke, Fire, Rain

We have been hit with great clouds of smoke in Las Vegas from fires in Arizona and now up on Mount Charleston. The air is congested with the smoke and my throat is raw. This morning I was jolted awake by tremendous rolling thunder that shook the windows and set off car alarms.  Finally rain deluged. Unfortunately it ended within 5 minutes.Thundershowers are predicted for all day so hopefully it will help put out the fires on mount Charleston.

My plan was to go apt. hunting today but we shall see what happens. I do have to drive cross town and Vegas is known for flash flooding.

First Friday was a success.  I sold my art work and learned a lot about what people in Vegas are looking for and willing to pay. It was an interesting experience. If you want to see more of my art go to: http://www.yotaki.com

Last night I made Pho soup to help my throat and would have posted a photo but it tasted so good I ate it before it cooled. So no picture, but the secret ingredient was lime oil from doterra. Check out my website at mydottera.com/beautywalk.  Not all oils from other companies are safe for consumption but Doterra essential oils are. I used them to heal a spider bite, puncture wound in my foot and allergies.

Oh, the sun is coming out and the sky has that brightness that you just know there is a rainbow growing.  You have got to love the weather in Vegas.
