Yotaki

It takes courage to make art. The rage of the artistic heart is the power behind my work. I take materials of any kind and twist or manipulate it until it expresses my deepest fear, nightmare or simplest dream. It is in the secrets hidden deep within my soul that I present before you. Texture and the juxtaposition of contrasting elements bring life to my art. Large wall size pieces of jewelry or poetry on articles of clothing, tearing chunks of Styrofoam to create a 3-D painting, ceramics or movement through space, it does not matter what the medium as long as I can express the message of my heart.
I love secrets and glittery things so all my work will have a hidden element and the signature is accented by a rhinestone. I call myself, Yotaki, a dream dancer and utilize all elements of expression from dance, movement, sculpture, rendering or words. My goal is to touch that secret place deep within you and let it resonate. I believe all people are voyeuristic and yearn to see the most secret of all spaces, the soul of another.
I have evolved from traditional sculpture to dance to life size games or wearable art which I call poetry in motion. All my work tells a story. It is my challenge to engage the viewer so that you leave forever altered by the experience. To invite you to peek through the knothole and consciously walk over the edge.  Some of my work engages your participation in the creation or alteration while other pieces refuse admittance to the sacred space of art. I have created performance pieces and left guerrilla style art to be found and enjoyed. My work has been displayed in galleries through out Europe, Morocco, CT, NY, CA, NV and various traveling shows through the south.
My art expresses all that is Yotaki. It is my truth and my lies. Coeur Rage has become my trademark.  Each day my heart rages with the need and desire to create. It is my goal to touch you and hold your attention not just for a moment, but for all time.

Then by all means, create, create! Put into the world what we all have in our hearts and souls. Hold it up to our faces and say, “This is YOU!”
