Not all surprises are good surprises.

Some surprises are wonderful. Thinking I would not be able to go to the concert due to my tire falling off the rim my boss called and he and his partner drove all the way out to pick me up and take me home. Amazing how friendly country folks are.

HappyBirthday ……to me

Tomorrow, Jan. 9 is my birthday. This year it is a sad one. My aunt died, a few months ago, only no one told me. I found out when I tried to call and wish her a happy birthday. It was always a yearly thing, my birthday being Jan. 9, her’s Jan. 10, and my brother Jan. 11. I won’t hear the sound of her voice, “Hi, Hunneey” she had a way of dragging out honey so the word wrapped around you like a strong hug. She always dressed like she was going to church and had red red nails. She was a great lady with a big heart. so this year will be a little sad.Happy birthday Aunt Jo.

This is my first birthday here and I have made acquaintances but no friends so no one to celebrate with. Of course I get text and a few calls from my friends in Las Vegas but it’s not the same. My brother and his wife sent me a great present and I can’t wait to use the body scrub. I worked hard on construction in the Aluminum Can and need the relaxation.

I made friends with the cop in old town, they say the town is Mayberry on acid, and I think so. Who stops and chats with the cop. It was lovely. This would never have happened in Vegas. There is a shop owner who greets me with a hug but he and his boyfriend are in a rough spot so I try not to be an interference. There is my 72 yr old nudist neighbor who would love to have me visit and share some wine but that’s a visual I really don’t need. Another neighbor is in Mexico for 3 months and I have been playing with and caring for her dogs. (read morning visitors) She does not allow them inside otherwise I would have had them with me last night. It was a cold, violently strong wind and rain. A warm furry body would have been nice.

Sometimes I think about my time up at Wildflower Village in Reno and all the fabulous folks there and miss it. I really am a social being.

So I do want to thank all of you who read my posts, like or subscribe to my blog. It really means the world to me. thank you so much for hearing me and seeing me maybe even feeling me.

So if it sounds like I am mournful and a bit self indulgent I am. But tomorrow is a new day, my birthday, the start of a new year for me. To life!

Two Morning Visitors

This cold frosty morning I had two friendly happy visitors. They come by for an early treat and game of tag.

Worst Drive Best visit or Broken Mirror

Leaving for Las Vegas

Sunrise beautiful day for a trip
Return from storage

Return trip took an extra 21/2 hours due to all the accidents and semi-trucks lying on their sides. After the third one I didn’t know if I should start to worry or be grateful someone was looking out for me. Then I remembered the broken mirror.
As I was digging through storage I saw the mirror and just felt “Oh no, this is going to break.” so it got moved to a safe place outside. After I finished I put the mirror back having decided I didn’t believe in bad luck. As soon as it was safely placed on the side I heard a crack. Broke right down the middle. I knew it. The heck with it. I moved more stuff around to the tune of mirror shattering. Closed and locked the storage.
That night I spent with a great friend. One who read on my blog I wished I had oatmeal cookies. She baked amazing cookies. Now that is a good friend.
Of course as I drove the broken mirror crossed my mind. The first accident caused a major delay and took over an hour to exit the freeway. The second one had us down to two lanes. The third was a pile up of cars but by then I was in another state so felt progress. The fourth was a single trailer truck lying on its side. Shortly after i sat in rush hour traffic for another hour.
It all gave me lots to think about. The broken mirror. But every event happened before I reached that point. So it sounds more like I was lucky not unlucky.

Unexpected friend

Friends pop up in unexpected places.

What do you do with salami?

I have two wonderful friends, a couple, who invited me to lunch.  After a fantastic visit it was time for me to leave. The wife packed a care package to go. When I got home I opened the bag to see what she had given me. Thank fully there was no cake as I would have eaten that, then beaten myself up for not having will power.  What was in the bag was at least a pound of salami.  This is something I never eat. I have put it into the freezer until I can think of what to do with it or find someone who will enjoy eating it.  She was so sweet to do that I would never hurt her feelings. So any suggestions on what to do with salami are welcomed.

I was thinking I could make a bread house and use the salami for shingles.  Or better yet make a dome that way the door could be round as well.  Buy some olives and build a chimney.  Place it all on a bed of lettuce and plant some artichoke trees.  Drizzle olive oil so it looks like it just rained. But after doing all that work how could you eat it? Maybe I should stick to the original plan and find someone to give the food to who eats salami.

It hurts not having money

I just got off the phone with a friend who said she had to cancel lunch with me because she has no money. Then she proceeds to tell me how she is spending $50 plus tip on a haircut tomorrow, going on vacation to Texas, just had her ring dipped in gold for $80., is going to have a new band made for $13,000, oh she complained about only getting $900 back on taxes. Both she and her husband work, he also has retirement they have health insurance I could go on but what she doesn’t have is $10 for lunch.
