Last Night

Last night I lay in bed with the curtain open mesmerized by the vast darkness and multitude of stars. One sat vertically above another twinkling and seeming to move as the one below a static anchor.
I’d close my eyes momentarily then open to confirm it still existed, yet expecting it to have burnt out.
At one point I got up to walk to another window frozen in the moment as stars covered the universe appearing to have been shaken from a magical cloth.
Tonight I shall open the curtain wider inviting the stars to watch me sleep and dream of their gentle blessings.
