What the Olive Man Taught me

Looking at all the different olives we began to discuss the attributes of each different color and flavor. When he said something to me that changed the way I look at olives for ever. He said he likes the dark purple ones because they have gotten a chance to dance.

To dance in life, the poetry of an olive.

It is not the common black one found in a can

nor is it the bitter green ones never given the chance to live

but the rich dark purple olives

who have not only experienced life but danced

That joy accompanies them as they swim in wine and olive brine

I will forever favor the dancing olives

and be indebted to the wondrous olive man.
